WHAT: In 1998 at the age of 6, Ryan Hreljac was upset that children in Africa were becoming sick and sometimes dying because they didn’t have access to fresh water. Ryan decided to ‘DO SOMETHING’ about it and raised $70 doing extra chores in order to build a well for these children. Others paid attention and began supporting Ryan and his efforts. Since the original $70, Ryan’s Well has been established and his organization has raised over $1.5 million and helped build 266 wells. These wells have brought fresh drinking water, to over 400,000 people in 12 countries and helped cause a significant drop in illness.
